Correspondence and papers. The collection consists of correspondence and petitions received by Blasdel, and letterpress books. Included are a number of letters written by his secretary, Thomas Wells. A good deal of the correspondence relates to the Indian troubles in Humboldt county during the late 1860's, and political appointments. Principal correspondents include Charles McDermit, Irwin McDowell, A.P.K. Safford, Jacob L. Van Bokkelen, D.H Haskell, Isaac N. Roop, E.F. Dunne, Samuel Youngs, William M. Stewart, J.D. Minor, H.H. Beck, and C. C. Goodwin.

Henry G. Blasdel was the first governor of the state of Nevada. Born in Indiana, he came to California in 1852.
